HealthQuarters is proud to announce the arrival of three new executives to the organization, who join us on our mission to redefine health as one unified experience. Together, they bring leadership experience from major healthcare organizations, Fortune 500 companies, and startups of various sizes. In their new roles, they will be responsible for bringing HealthQuarters into new sites and territories, while continuing to build and refine our care model.
Read on to meet Steve, Derek, and Todd:
Steve was most recently COO for Edenbridge Health, an operator of comprehensive programs caring for the frail elderly. Previously, he was Vice President of Operations at Iora Health, where he helped grow the company from four locations to become a national leader in the provision of primary care to seniors.
Prior to Iora, Steve was Vice President of Development for Au Bon Pain, where he was responsible for U.S. new unit growth in institutional channels, with a focus on hospital-based real estate. Previously, Steve was a Principal in the private equity practice of the boutique strategy consulting firm the Parthenon Group, where he performed due diligence analysis related to acquisitions in the retail and healthcare industries.
Steve was also the Founder and CEO of Isis Parenting, a Boston-based chain of centers with retail stores and educational programs for expecting and new parents. Before starting Isis Parenting, Steve worked in the health care practice at Deloitte Consulting, advising hospital and insurance clients on operational and financial strategy. Steve began his career in health care policy – first as Communications Director of the Vermont Health Care Authority under Governor Howard Dean, and later as an Associate for AcademyHealth in Washington, D.C. Steve received his BA from Middlebury College and his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Lexington, MA with his wife, two sons, one dog, and a varying number of alpacas, goats, chickens and bees.
Derek is a highly accomplished finance executive with 15+ years of experience in fast-growth technology companies. Holding executive roles at Foursquare, Indeed and WeWork, he managed departments across finance, operations and real estate, completing $1B in real estate transactions, acquiring several construction-tech companies and closing multiple rounds of funding. Derek was also an early member of Blue State Digital, a digital strategy and technology firm that was later acquired by WPP.
In Derek’s most recent role as the Vice President of Development at WeWork, he was instrumental in overseeing the real estate advisory team and development department which included real estate acquisitions, design, construction and building operations. Under Derek’s guidance the real estate advisory team sold $800M in enterprise agreements and ran special projects including WeLive, WeGrow and the Lord & Taylor property acquisition. Together, these departments grew to 4,000 employees with an annual budget of $4B.
Prior to WeWork, as Head of Real Estate at Indeed, Derek created the corporate real estate function for the world’s largest job search engine. During his tenure Indeed grew from 300 employees to 10,000 and relied on Derek’s international real estate expertise to complete 100 leases in 37 cities worldwide, $400M in CapEx investment and $1B in commercial leases, with record setting deals in Austin, TX, Dublin, Ireland, and Stamford, CT. Early in his career Derek was the Head of Finance at Foursquare, a New York City technology startup focused on location based social networking. Derek received his BA from the University of Vermont and currently lives in NYC with his young son.
Todd is an innovative, results-driven healthcare and technology executive with over 15 years of experience leading mature, emerging-growth, and early-stage companies. Todd is Principal of Algo Hill Advisors, a healthcare consulting and advisory company. In this capacity, he partners with executive and clinical leadership teams on strategic planning, financial pro forma, business operations, practice transformation, and corporate development initiatives.
Before Algo Hill, Todd served as Chief Operating Officer of Dwell Family Doctors, a private equity backed network of advanced primary care centers in the New York metropolitan market owned by Brighton Health Group. In just 18 months, he restructured and right-sized the organization, implemented operational best practices, negotiated new contracts, and successfully transitioned Dwell from a fragmented mix of independent urgent care clinics. into a scalable network of integrated advanced primary care centers. Todd’s efforts led to a successful exit event for Brighton.
Before Dwell, Todd was the Director of Retail Services for QuadMed, where he directed and led QuadMed’s team to source, implement, and operate the first 17 Walmart Care Clinics, located in Walmart stores across Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas. He was accountable for all areas of QuadMed’s Retail Services division, including implementation, recruiting, credentialing, operations, IT, finance, compliance, customer support, and account management. In addition to his experience as a healthcare executive, Todd worked for several years in investment banking before founding and leading successful ventures in the Equipment Finance, and SaaS (Fintech) industries. Todd holds an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School and a BA from Colgate University, where he was a Division 1 hockey player, drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks. He lives in Fairfield, Connecticut, with his wife and four children.
