What inspired you to become an OB/GYN and how did you get started?

When I was in the fifth grade, my biology teacher assigned us the task of dissecting frogs. Even though many of the other ten year olds in the class were put off by the assignment, I was fascinated. I found the opportunity to learn more about how this frog’s body worked eye-opening, and in that moment made the decision to be a doctor—even though I had no idea what that meant at that early point in my life.

As time went on and I continued to visualize my life as a physician, I always envisioned myself as an OB/GYN. On some level, I must have always known that women’s health was the right place for me.

What do you love most about working in women’s health?

Put simply? It’s fun. Over the past 30 years, I’ve been lucky to have fun, meaningful, and intimate interactions with my patients. I’ve developed long-standing relationships with my patients and am able to get to know each one of them on a deeper level than just the ins and outs of their gynecological health.

What can a guest expect from an appointment with you? What's it going to be like?

Though it depends on what somebody comes in for, you can expect the appointment to be centered on finding out what your needs are and then addressing those needs. If you’re coming in for a GYN exam, then you can expect the appointment to be geared towards gynecological issues.

Overall, you can expect the appointment to be an open conversation with me about what you need and what next steps, if applicable, are available.

Can you talk more about how you see your practice as connected to holistic preventive care?

I’m committed to providing comprehensive, gynecologic care that serves all types of women regardless of their age and their needs.

What excites you most about practicing within HealthQuarters?

It’s a beautiful space and environment that helps to put patients in a more peaceful mindset. I’m excited about building everything from scratch and working collaboratively with providers across many different specialties.

Finally, what else can you tell us about your approach to patient care?

I’m a very relationship-oriented physician who likes to stay engaged with my patients. I like to take my time and I’m a good listener. Sense of humor is also important to me, as I like to cultivate personable, comfortable environments for my patients.
